Applications from across the globe for Swedish Steel Prize 2025

12.17.2024 – The application window for Swedish Steel Prize 2025 officially closed on December 15, 2024. The prestigious award recognizes those who harness the potential of steel to create groundbreaking innovations that benefit their industry, their business, and society as a whole.

“The jury is excited to begin evaluating the diverse and innovative entries we’ve received. It’s inspiring to see such creative uses of steel, and we deeply appreciate everyone who contributed their ideas,” says Eva Petursson, Chair of the Swedish Steel Prize Jury and Head of SSAB’s Research and Innovation.

This year’s applications highlighted exceptional innovations from around the globe, showcasing the transformative potential of steel across diverse industries.

The Swedish Steel Prize is awarded to a product or method that best demonstrates how the properties of steel contribute to a significant innovation. For decades, the prize has served as an inspiration for engineers, designers, and inventors, encouraging them to explore the nearly limitless potential of steel.

As part of the event, SSAB will donate SEK 100,000 to charity, reinforcing the commitment to innovation and social responsibility.

Swedish Steel Prize Days 2025 will take place May 6–8 in Stockholm, Sweden. During these inspiring days, industry leaders and innovators from across the globe will come together to learn, network, and celebrate the pioneering advancements made possible by steel.

For more than 20 years, Swedish Steel Prize has been recognizing those who take that extra step to improve their own business, industry as well as society, through innovative use of steel. The award is a celebration of good engineering, cooperation and the sharing of knowledge – and it aims to inspire the steel innovations that lead to a better and more sustainable world.
