1 min readThe Su-Dan Corporation of the US has developed a new load-bearing, resilient steel strip for a storage pocket in a new SUV produced by the American GM Corporation.
The equivalent part was previously made of high carbon steel which was hardened after forming. Production was complicated and more than 40 percent of the parts had to be scrapped. By using ultra high strength, cold reduced steel, the scrap rate fell to almost zero, the weight was halved and production costs significantly reduced.
