A day of discovery at Experience Day 2025

05.06.2025 – Experience Day 2025 brought together visitors from around the world to explore SSAB’s innovation and sustainability journey. This year, the experience was shared between two of SSAB’s locations in Sweden: Luleå and Oxelösund. The result was a powerful and hands-on encounter with the future of steel.

SSAB Luleå: Embracing transformation

In Luleå, the day opened with a glimpse into transformation in motion. Guests were introduced to the plans for the new mini-mill and the exciting shift from traditional blast furnaces to fossil-free electric arc furnace technology. Walking through the current production sites and the HYBRIT pilot plant, many could feel the momentum building toward a future shaped by clean energy and groundbreaking processes. The newly presented showroom, complete with a detailed model of what lies ahead, added depth and clarity to the vision.

SSAB Oxelösund: Innovation in action

Meanwhile, Oxelösund offered a different, but equally compelling, experience. The day was filled with practical demonstrations, engaging seminars and close-up encounters with the steels that drive the world forward. Visitors explored the rolling mill, where slabs of steel are shaped with precision, and gained insights into the upcoming transition to electric arc furnace (EAF) technology — a major step in SSAB’s fossil-free transformation. The Additive Manufacturing Center showcased how future-focused production methods are evolving in real time. At the Knowledge Service Center Laboratory, live demos in welding and wear testing revealed the depth of technical expertise behind every solution. Conversations flowed freely, questions were welcomed, and the spirit of curiosity was everywhere.

Both sites offered more than information — they offered connection. Between experts and attendees, between steel and sustainability, between today and tomorrow. It wasn’t just about what SSAB is doing, but why it matters and how it impacts people and industries across the globe.
