Vossloh España of Spain has been nominated for a diesel electric locomotive for freight traffic.
Using high strength steel the design team was able to reduce the chassis weight of the locomotive by 25 per cent. More even axle weight, better transport economics and lower wear on rails are a few of the advantages achieved. Even driver safety could be improved through new anti-collision solutions in advanced high strength steel.
