Welcome and introduction

Mill visit including lunch

  • Get a glimps of SSAB Luleå’s future
SSAB will convert the current steel production in Luleå, from a blast furnace, coke plant and existing steel mill, to a new integrated electric steel mill with electric arc furnaces, rolling mill and other processing possibilities. It’s a crucial step in the transformation into fossil-free steel production. Learn more about the huge investment and if the opportunity is given in May, you will be taken to the area where the new mini mill is planned to be built, an impressive building of approx. 1500 meter long and 500 meter wide.

  • HYBRIT pilot plant
Let’s make a stop close to the HYBRIT pilot plant and listen to experts that will teach you more about the revolutionized HYBRIT® technology. By using HYBRIT® technology, SSAB aims to replace coking coal, traditionally needed for ore-based steelmaking, with fossil-free electricity and hydrogen. The result will be the world’s first fossil-free steelmaking technology, with virtually no carbon footprint.

  • The existing steel production
Experience SSABs existing and traditional steel production methods in Luleå. The blast furnace and the continuous casting line are still in operation until the new mini mill is up and running. See how molten steel is converted into slabs that can be up to 11 meters and weight over 20 tonnes.

  • Showroom and exhibition
In SSAB Luleå’s new showroom and exhibition, you as a visitor can take part of SSAB Luleå’s history but also look into the future. What is modern steel used for? Don’t miss the 3D-model that describes and visualizes how the new mini mill will look like!

  • Increase your knowledge
Meet part of SSAB Luleå’s management team and experts. Get a deep dive seminar session about SSAB´s operations in Luleå.
