Learn how steel can impact the performance and sustainability of your product, how SSAB can take your ideas and transform them into finished products, and what our customers expect from steel in the future. In this track, you will also learn about sustainability in architectural buildings.
The idea of Sustainable Upgrading focuses on redesigning products for optimized material use, more efficient transportation and installation. By utilizing a system approach to product life, from design to product servicing, it is possible to build in a smarter way. Use steel better – use better steel.
Sustainable Upgrading concept for better performance of infrastructure
Sustainability will be a license to operate in the construction business. Building and environmental legislation is developing rapidly in Europe and especially in the Nordics. The common aim is to reduce CO2 emissions from building operations, materials and construction. When reducing CO2 emissions from the building materials, the durability and material lifecycle should be under focus as well.
This presentation will open up how SSAB will respond to these challenges with GreenCoat® color-coated steels. What we have done so far and what plans SSAB has with regard to fossil-free, color-coated steels.
Meeting the requirements of building industry with GreenCoat®
The manufacture of construction materials has a heavy climate impact in the production of new buildings. Anna will present an ongoing research project that aims to create a basis for potential climate impact reduction by using fossil-free steel in the construction industry. The research project shows both which construction components can be replaced by fossil-free steel ones and what climate impact reduction can be expected in different types of projects. The aim is to support development towards a climate-neutral industry in 2045.

Together with customers, we are transforming how future buildings are made for the wellbeing of people and the environment. Ruukki's lifecycle approach explains how to ensure sustainable steel-based building products all the way from raw materials to the building's end of life.
